Gerina Stevenson is a native of Mexico as the daughter of Mexican parents Alan Stevenson and Rita Stevenson. Stevenson is American and has Mexican-American heritage. From the time she was little she's been extremely keen on playing sports. Gerina began playing golf after she was 15 years old. Gerina graduated from Goddard High School. She was the winner of New Mexico's state golf championship. She was also a volleyball player and competed at the national level. Her first college was in the University of Texas. As a senior, she was a winner in each tournament in which she participated. During undergraduate studies she won the titles as Conference USA Female Athlete and Conference USA Individual Player of the year.
